Accessibility Overview

SEN Suitability

Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast is an indoor dark ride where guests board a slow-moving vehicle equipped with laser guns. The goal is to shoot targets throughout space-themed scenes to earn points.

  • Noise Level: Moderate. Background music, laser sounds, and occasional sound effects from animatronics
  • Visual Effects: Brightly lit targets, flashing lights, glowing sets, and animated characters
  • Movement: Gentle, constant speed with some spinning controlled by the rider
  • Storyline: Guests help Buzz Lightyear defeat Emperor Zurg in an intergalactic battle
  • SEN Tips: Some scenes contain flashing lights and high-contrast visuals that may be overstimulating for light-sensitive guests. Waiting during quieter park hours is recommended for those who may be sensitive to crowds and noise

Mobility Suitability

  • Wheelchair Use: Fully accessible. Guests can remain in their wheelchair for the entire ride by boarding the dedicated wheelchair-accessible vehicle
  • Boarding:
    • A fold-out ramp provides direct boarding into the accessible car
    • The moving walkway (travellator) at the boarding area can be slowed or stopped to allow safe transfer or ramp use
  • Storage: Canes, crutches, or other mobility aids can be brought on board and placed on the floor of the vehicle

Priority & Easy Access Card Information

Guests with a Priority Card or Easy Access Card use a dedicated accessible entrance via the ride’s exit lane. This provides faster boarding and avoids the standard, busier queue.

How to Access It:

  1. From the main Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast entrance in Discoveryland (directly opposite Orbitron and near Star Tours), walk past the standard queue entrance.
  2. Continue around the left side of the building, following signs for the exit.
  3. The accessible boarding area is located at the ride’s exit platform. Look for the “Accessibilité” signage and a Cast Member at the gate.
  4. Present your Priority or Easy Access Card to be directed to either the standard vehicle loading area or the dedicated wheelchair-accessible car.

Queue Conditions:

  • Entirely indoors with level, smooth flooring
  • Well-lit with themed decorations and some animated displays
  • Spacious enough for easy wheelchair navigation

Ride Experience

Guests board a two-seat XP-38 Space Cruiser, each equipped with its own laser gun and joystick to spin the vehicle 360 degrees.

  • The ride moves through various rooms filled with animatronic characters, large target areas, and themed set pieces
  • Shooting targets earns points, with certain hidden targets offering higher scores
  • The environment is colourful and busy, with both static and moving visual elements
  • The ride ends with a scoreboard showing your score level compared to other players

Practical Tips

  • Best Time to Ride: Early morning or during parades to avoid queues
  • Closest Accessible Toilets: Inside Videopolis (Discoveryland)
  • Quiet Rest Area: Benches near Discoveryland Lagoon or behind Orbitron
  • Bag & Medical Equipment Storage: Bags can be taken on board and placed on the floor of the vehicle

Fun Facts

  • Opening Date: April 8, 2006 (replacing Le Visionarium)
  • Design Inspiration: Based on Disney’s Toy Story film series
  • Interactivity: Every target hit changes colour and awards points, with some “hidden” high-score targets for advanced players
