How much space is available to move around inside the accessible room?

The accessible rooms at Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel are designed with step-free layouts and clear pathways to allow safe, comfortable movement for guests using wheelchairs or mobility aids. There is ample space to turn, navigate between furniture, and approach key areas like the bed, wardrobe, and bathroom.

Bedroom Layout and Navigation – Room Images

The bedroom area provides enough circulation space for most manual and powered wheelchairs. Guests can expect approximately 90 to 150 cm of clear floor space between furnishings, depending on the specific room layout. This allows for smooth turning and side-to-side access.

There is step-free access from the room entrance to the sleeping area, wardrobe, desk, and bedside. Furniture is positioned to minimise obstruction and can often be rearranged slightly by staff if needed.

Space Around the Bed

In accessible rooms, the bed is typically positioned with generous space on at least one side — often both. This is to support side transfers, use of mobility aids, or placement of portable medical equipment like a mobile hoist.

Guests can expect around 80 to 100 cm of space on each side of the bed, though this can vary slightly by room. For guests with specific equipment needs, it is recommended to request advance arrangements to confirm clearance.

Access to Features

There is direct access to the wardrobe, light switches, curtains, and storage units from a seated position. Tables and desks are also usable for wheelchair users, with adequate knee clearance below.

The flooring is smooth and level, with no internal steps or thresholds, making it easier to navigate with mobility aids or when transferring from bed to chair.

Bathroom Proximity

Accessible rooms are designed with the bathroom entrance positioned close to the bed, with a wide door and open entry. This ensures guests can move easily between the bedroom and bathroom without tight turns or narrow passages.

Summary

The accessible rooms at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel provide a generous, open layout that supports independent movement and safe navigation for wheelchair users. Whether you’re transferring, turning, or simply moving about the room, the space is designed with ease and comfort in mind.
