Disney Adventure World 2027: New Rides, Closures & Accessibility Guide

What's new at Disney Adventure World in 2027? Confirmed Up ride plans, World of Frozen, Lion King updates, Crush's Coaster and practical disability access

Disney Adventure World in 2027 will look different from the park many Disneyland Paris visitors remember. World of Frozen and Adventure Way are now open, a new Up -inspired attraction is due during 2027, and construction continues on a future Lion King land.

For disabled visitors and families planning around mobility, sensory needs or a particular favourite ride, the important question is not simply what is new. It is what is actually open, what remains under construction and what you can safely plan to do .

This guide brings together Disney's confirmed 2027 developments with practical accessibility considerations, including wheelchair transfers, shows, changing facilities, quieter moments and the rides affected by refurbishment. Information checked on 2 November 2026; announced opening periods and operating arrangements can change.

What is new at Disney Adventure World in 2027?

The former Walt Disney Studios Park became Disney Adventure World on 29 March 2026 , when the World of Frozen expansion, the Adventure Way promenade and other major experiences opened. That was the transformation's launch, not a future 2027 opening.

For 2027, the biggest confirmed new attraction is Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings. Disney is also continuing work on the Lion King expansion, although its opening year has not been announced. Meanwhile, parts of the existing park will still be affected by refurbishments.

Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings: the new Up attraction

Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings will be a flying-chair carousel on Adventure Way, directly opposite Raiponce Tangled Spin. Inspired by Pixar's Up , it is designed to lift riders into the air while their seats revolve around a central structure. Its story draws on Russell's Wilderness Explorers club and an aviation badge.

Disney has confirmed 2027 as the opening year, not a particular month or date. On 29 October 2026 , the resort reported that the ride's central support structure had been installed. The structure stands 12 metres tall, and work on the themed elements, queue and testing was still to come.

Adventure Way connects the park's newer experiences. Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings is being developed opposite Raiponce Tangled Spin; this photograph shows the promenade rather than the finished new attraction.

Important: accessibility details are not yet confirmed. Disney has not yet published a complete, attraction-specific accessibility listing for Sky Swings. It would be wrong to assume a wheelchair can stay on the ride, that a transfer board will be available or that every guest will be able to board. Check the final accessibility symbols, boarding rules and evacuation conditions once Disney releases them.

Is Sky Swings likely to suit someone with sensory needs?

The announced design involves seats suspended in the air and movement around a central tower. That is enough to suggest that motion, height, wind and the sight of other seats moving may matter to some visitors. It is not enough to predict a particular ride speed, noise level, accessibility category or individual reaction. For a guest who finds movement difficult, make the first visit to Adventure Way a look-and-decide moment rather than a promised ride.

The attraction's colourful Up theming and garden may still make the area enjoyable for people who choose not to ride, subject to how construction and access are arranged when you visit.

World of Frozen is already open — but check the boarding details

World of Frozen opened in March 2026, so it is an established part of the park for a 2027 holiday. The land recreates Arendelle, with Frozen Ever After , a royal encounter with Anna and Elsa, themed dining and shops, and entertainment.

For visitors with restricted mobility, Frozen Ever After's boat boarding is the key issue . Disney's attraction page says a transfer from a wheelchair is essential and that a transfer board is available on request. The ride involves dark sections, strobe effects, a splash risk and boat movements that can include a drop in the dark. There is no minimum height restriction, but that does not remove the transfer and safety requirements.

If you cannot transfer safely, you should not plan to ride on the assumption that an accessible entrance means you can remain in your chair. Speak with Cast Members about the boarding process, any staged transfers and what happens if you need assistance during an evacuation.

World of Frozen is open for 2027 visits, but the land and its boat ride have different access arrangements.

The land is not the same as the ride. Guests who cannot board Frozen Ever After may still want to visit Arendelle for the scenery, shops, food and entertainment. Check the day's programme and current access arrangements, especially when the area is busy.

Meeting Anna and Elsa

A Royal Encounter uses a virtual-queue or booking arrangement, principally through the Disneyland Paris app. Disney makes clear that access to World of Frozen does not itself reserve a meeting with the characters. If seeing Anna and Elsa is an essential part of your trip, prioritise the encounter's booking procedure rather than expecting to join an ordinary walk-up queue.

For step-by-step mobility and sensory information about this area, see our World of Frozen accessibility guide .

Raiponce Tangled Spin: a gentle-looking ride with a transfer requirement

Raiponce Tangled Spin is the lantern-themed spinning attraction on Adventure Way, inspired by Tangled . It has no minimum height requirement, but its accessibility information says that a transfer from your wheelchair is essential . Disney also lists a transfer board as available on request.

The ride is presented as a family experience, but the vehicles rotate. Guests who are sensitive to spinning, movement or visually busy settings may want to watch a cycle before deciding whether it is suitable. A ride being described as suitable for families is not a guarantee that it will be comfortable for every child or adult with sensory differences.

The lantern-lit Raiponce Tangled Spin is open, opposite the location of the future Up-inspired attraction.

Disney Cascade of Lights: watching the nighttime show

The Disney Cascade of Lights nighttime spectacular takes place around Adventure Bay and includes fireworks, large-scale water projections, drones, sound and lighting effects. Disney lists the show at approximately 16 minutes , although operating schedules and performances can change.

Disney publishes a dedicated viewing arrangement for guests with a Priority Card and up to two companions . Make yourself known to the Cast Members at the dedicated area entrance; having a card does not mean every viewing point is suitable or that you can arrive just as the show begins.

If you use a wheelchair

Choose where you will watch before the crowd gathers, locate the dedicated entrance if eligible and plan how you will leave after the show. Avoid treating a good sightline as proof of an easy exit.

If you are sensitive to noise or visual effects

Prepare for fireworks, music, flashes and busy paths. Ear defenders may help some visitors, but the show is not advertised as a low-sensory experience.

If fatigue is a factor

Consider a break before the show and leave time for the journey back through the park afterwards. The closest viewing spot is not necessarily the best option for your needs.

Show times are available in the official app and may change. Disney's separate paid reserved-viewing offer should not be confused with its accessibility viewing arrangements.

The Lion King land: under construction, not an announced 2027 opening

A new world themed to The Lion King is being built beyond the current developed areas of Disney Adventure World. Disney has described a major water-based attraction beneath Pride Rock, using Audio-Animatronics, immersive scenes and several descents, including a particularly substantial drop.

That is exciting news for a future trip, but Disney has not confirmed an opening date . Do not plan a 2027 visit around entering the land or riding the attraction unless the resort subsequently announces that it will be open.

Detailed wheelchair boarding, evacuation, height and sensory requirements for the future ride have also not been published. A water ride with drops could be unsuitable for some guests, but its eventual access conditions must be based on Disney's actual attraction guide rather than assumptions.

Our separate Lion King land guide covers the plans and what has — and has not — been announced about accessibility.

Crush's Coaster and other ride closures in 2027

One of the biggest practical changes for early-2027 visits will be the continued closure of Crush's Coaster in Worlds of Pixar. Disney closed the ride on 7 September 2026 for major technical refurbishment, with an expected reopening in summer 2027 . An exact day is not guaranteed.

This is particularly important if a member of your family has one favourite attraction or if your itinerary depends on a small number of rides that match their mobility or sensory needs. Do not substitute another coaster merely because it appears in a similar thrill category: boarding, darkness, motion and evacuation conditions can be very different.

Shorter closures can be added or revised closer to travel. Check our 2026–2027 ride closures and refurbishment guide and Disney's official planned works information before deciding on dates.

Accessibility planning: what matters more than the ride list

Wheelchairs, mobility aids and transfers

Disney Adventure World has attractions with different access conditions. Some routes or waiting areas may be wheelchair accessible even though the ride vehicle itself requires a transfer. For every attraction you consider essential, distinguish between being able to reach the boarding point and being able to board safely .

Check these details for each must-do attraction

Can you remain in your wheelchair, or is a transfer compulsory?

If transferring, is a board or other assistance available, and does it meet your needs?

Is walking, climbing steps or independently evacuating required?

Are there drops, spinning, intense acceleration or significant boat-to-platform differences?

Are there strobe lights, very dark sections, loud sounds or splash effects?

Does the attraction allow guide or assistance dogs, and is a waiting arrangement offered where needed?

The current Disneyland Paris accessibility information and attraction-specific guides are the best reference for boarding and evacuation restrictions.

Priority Cards and Easy Access Cards

Disney's Priority Card and Easy Access Card have different eligibility rules.
